How to Write a Poem

Don your cocked helmet and tuck your elbows in
Prepare to command the bow in the pink sunrise
And ford the Delaware
Ideas will wrench you from here to there
Icebergs and words zigzagging a zebra crossing
But face the mountain of pages straight on
And hold your pen upright in the crush
Survival is victory enough
